Vintage design find of the month

I’m constantly finding low priced vintage items on usedregina.com. Last week was no exception. I’ve been in search of a used turntable for some time, and to my surprise, this beauty popped up in the lastest ads:

It’s a vintage 1970 Electrohome Saturn 861 turntable. I quickly drove over to the owner’s house when they accepted my offer. Miraculously, there wasn’t a scratch on it – and it came with all the original elements, which quickly learned was rare.

I did some research and found out it is a Canadian design and the table top version exists in the permanent collection at the Canadian Design Exchange in Toronto. I love the simplicity of the floor model with it’s Saarinen inspired base.

Most importantly, it sounds great. The first album we played was The Who – Who’s next.

Christmas wishlist

One of these, please 🙂

I’m digging the squares blanket by Ferm Living Shop. Who am I kidding, I’m loving everything on that website these days. Most things are quite affordable. You won’t break the bank.
